The fire broke out late Monday morning at 276 East Street. Crews encountered a heavy snow pack, hindering fire fighting efforts. Crews blocked part of East Street while they worked the fire.
At least one firefighter was injured in the blaze.
This fire underscores the importance of digging out your neighborhood fire hydrant. While responding to the fire, I observed many snowed in hydrants, which only slows crews in the event of an emergency.
